Announcing the Angele Hobeiche Kmeid-Ellis Collection

The Khayrallah Center is excited to announce a three part project centered on an extraordinary collection of over three-hundred letters received by Angele Ellis from friends and family in Lebanon, Cuba, Canada, Chile, and France. They are written in Arabic, English, and French, and many are accompanied by translations.¬†Through extensive research, careful cataloging of materials, and immersing themselves in Angele’s correspondence, the Center’s archivist, Amanda Forbes, and Graduate Research Assistant, Samantha Aamot, have produced a series of materials of incredible historical value.

  • Archival Collection: Explore the complete collection of letters and translations, as well as the Ellis family’s photographs and documents.
  • Digital StoryMap: Immerse yourself in an interactive story about Angele Ellis and her journey, centered on her correspondence with loved ones.
  • Podcast: Listen to the adapted interview between Fr. Kail Ellis, son of Angele, and Samantha Aamot.

The Center wishes to thank the Ellis family, especially Fr. Kail Ellis, for their generous donation of the letters. For more about the project visit the project webpage.
